Below are artist impressions for a new outdoor artwork. The images were created using a mix of AI and editing software. The work is in prototype stage and can be made available for touring indoors and outdoors.
It consists of a giant zoetrope magically making still sculptures of birds take flight. A zeotrope is a pre-film animation device that produces the illusion of motion, by displaying a sequence of drawings/ photographs/objects showing progressive phases of that motion.
Two versions of that work are in prototype stage:
- One specifically designed for sites near wetlands/rivers and depicting cormorants birds, which population declined rapidly in the 60’s and now on the up thanks to new legislations to protect them.
- One depicting turtle doves, the fastest declining bird in the UK, and a traditional cultural icon
