Thanks to all of you who have signed up to our drawing/animation workshops. Laura Spark has collected a series of botanical illustrations, all endangered species, for us to use as inspiration.
During the workshop, you will animate your chosen (or invented) illustration. If you would like to draw or print out any of these before the workshop please do! But we will also be doing a bit of drawing in the workshop so don’t worry if don’t have time beforehand.
“In this animation and illustration workshop we will be looking at botanical illustrations of extinct plants that used to exist in the UK, as well as some that are endangered now, plants we have lost, and we may lose soon. The ones that are gone only exist as archives, as memories. By using illustration and animation how can we celebrate these plants, how can we bring them back to life? Can we imagine how they moved, or give them new, imagined movement and intention? How to plants tell their own stories?”
