Dancing With Strangers

The series of digital collages Dancing with Strangers reveal Laurence Payot’s way of working, taking her inspiration from everyday behaviour, routines, and our relations to strangers in the public realm.

A series of photographs are taken from a still point of view and layered, creating unexpected moments as if they happened in front of the camera.

Using people in the street as dancers on a stage, the resulting work reveals and accentuates everyday rituals, from the distance we keep between ourselves, to the way we move around urban furniture.
